ENG1D6: Independent Reading

February, 2015:

In this month we will read and complete a THIRD independent reading! This will be the final independent reading of the year (as we will be moving into the class novel after that. The assignment for the reading (either fiction or non-fiction) is below.

September 12, 2014:

Today's class was held in the Library. Thank you to Mr. Giles for a great presentation. Students learned about the resources available at the library, both print and electronic. Students learned how to login to the wifi (passwords were reset), rules for the library, library hours, how to print and much more.

Students were also given a valuable resource book that they will use for the rest of their time at Northern. It is a cross curricular resource: Research Success @ Your Library.

After the presentation, students were given an opportunity to get started on our Independent Reading Project. Please see (and print) the handouts below for more details:

We went over this assignment last class and students are expected to have their book selected and approved by Thursday September 18, 2014.

Reading should be completed by: Monday October 27.

Book Covers are due on: Thursday November 6.

Presentations will begin on: Monday November 10. Everyone MUST be prepared to present on this date.
